A cleaning or laundry pack declares far less than a food one: a handful of ingredient classes, the preservatives, the declarable fragrance allergens, and little else. Surfactants, enzymes and optical brighteners all sit behind terms that name a job rather than a substance. UnPeel names what is declared, shows where regulators stand on it, and treats the environmental question as its own — where a substance ends up is a fact about a catchment, not about the person holding the bottle. Nothing here is a food score reused: a bottle of bleach is judged against what a bottle of bleach is for.

What can I scan — and does it really work on non-food?
Anything with an ingredients panel: food, skincare, supplements, pet food and household products. You never pick a category — the app works out what it is looking at, and a serum, a bag of kibble and a bottle of bleach each get an analysis written for that kind of product, rather than a food analysis awkwardly reused.
